In todays media dependent world teenagers all over the United States are wanting to make major changes to their physical appearance so that they can look like the fashion models they see on television and in magazines. Breast enlargement surgery is one of the ways that young teen girls can fulfill there body image dreams of looking like a model. Although you have to be 18 to have a breast augmentation you can receive one with permission from a parent or guardian. More and more parents today are agreeing to this surgery for their teen girls for whatever reason.
Either their child is begging them and making their parent feel sorry for them or the parent them self is caught up in the superficial world of beauty and glamour that is so prominent today. If your young daughter is begging you for breast implants because she says that she is ugly and everyone thinks she is ugly and that the surgery will change her life then it might be hard for you to say no. Some parents out there might even be pushing their teen into acting or modeling or living vicariously through their child. Although parents might be trying to do what they think is best for their child they need to look into the risks before they agree to sign permission for their child to go under the knife. It is very possible that some parents out there are signing over permission without really knowing what the process of breast augmentation is, especially single dads or grandfathers.
It is important for the guardian to go with the teen to meet with the doctor before the surgery and listen to his opinion on the surgery and the risks and benefits of the surgery. There are some cases in which teens are having a breast augmentation as a reconstructive surgery due to injury and in this case they will not need a parents or guardians permission. Whatever the reason for breast enlargement surgery both parent and teen need to be aware of the risks and benefits and make an informed decision with the help of their doctor.
